WHAT IS MINIWEAVING?

I coined the term "miniweaving" to name any weaving on small, portable DIY devices, made with easy-to-find materials and tools.
No need for large spaces, expensive looms, or specialty yarns; no more bulky equipment to haul around: your miniweaving can come with you on trips, to waiting rooms, to bus stops, to park benches, to boring zoom meetings.

WHAT CAN YOU MINIWEAVE?

Small format tapestries, miniature rugs, coasters, bookmarks, Christmas decorations, cases for eyeglasses, and other art projects or everyday items.

WHERE DO YOU LEARN TO MINIWEAVE?

Digital how-to manual (PDF) coming December 2025/January 2026 on Etsy

While large weaving already has its tools, scaling them down requires a bit of a different approach. Luckily, these tools can also be made of readily available craft materials, and with the use of simple tools.

Designed for easy access to the warp and precise distribution of the yarn, these tools will make your miniweaving easier and faster. They are also made to be portable and to easily attach to the original Miniweaver so that your "weaving shop" can easily be moved and taken anywhere.

This manual is complementing Volumes 1, 2, and 3.

Price and publishing date will be announced in january 2026.

Volume 6: Plain Weave for Miniweaving

Digital how-to manual (PDF) coming January/February 2026 on Etsy

For a beginner to an intermediate weaver, this manual will provide thorough instructions on proper plain weave which is the foundation of all weaving. The manual explains different densities and setts, showing many examples for a quick reference so you can choose which one suits your intentions, and provides introduction and tips for avoiding common difficulties.
The manual also provides introduction for some plain weaving techniques (slit weaving, basic pattern weaving), and discusses how to change colours, start and end a weave, create shapes, use proper tools, and produce straight, even, and stable weaving product on small scale miniweaver.
It is an excellent guide to prepare for more demanding techniques later.
The instructions are intended for a DIY miniweaver (Volume 1) but are applicable to many other small weaving devices.
